I’m back on my Kyabajou kick temporarily, so let’s talk about what hostesses have to deal with when they’re new, what precautions and advice they usually have to heed, and overall just how to be a success!
First of all, a hostess is a cabaret lady that works at a cabaret club where women sit and entertain customers. Hostess clubs are a service industry that mainly targets male customers, such as “responding with a smile ” and “drinking alcohol in a good mood while talking to the other party”. Female employees aren’t called hostesses, they’re called casts.
A cabaret club is still a customer service business, so you need to know the basic rules and mechanisms. There isn’t a problem if you learn these after you start working as a hostess, but if you know them in advance, you will be able to prepare yourself mentally and start working smoothly.
A cabaret club is a place that offers alcoholic beverages and snacks in addition to talks, so the tables tend to get dirty. At that time, the cast cleans the table. Of course, there are customers who care if the table is dirty; If that happens, it will lead to a result where a hostess’ nomination doesn’t come easy. Let’s break down the table manners further:
Oshibori is the first thing that customers want to relax when they come to the cabaret club. Be careful not to treat it carelessly as just a wet towel. When handing over a wet towel, it is a must to always open the towel with a smile.
If a customer shows you how to smoke, take out a lighter and light it:
Ignite the lighter with your own hand. If you light a fire near the customer’s mouth, there is a risk of burning the customer. Be sure to bring the fire to the customer after lighting it on your own. As for ashtrays, some clubs will replace them for you if you call a boy, so be sure to check when you enter the club or find out while working.
You can just order cocktails made in the kitchen, but if the customer has a bottle, the hostess will make the cocktail with the liquor presented at the table. There are a few caveats here as well, so keep that in mind.
It’s important to get a good impression from customers through customer service and get nominations.
As a cast member (hostess), you have to do your best to serve customers so that you can be nominated by customers who visit the store for the first time.
If you can get a nomination there, it will be considered as an on-site nomination.
This nomination type means that the customer comes to the store for you. It means “to nominate the hostesses you’re looking for”. The higher the number of nominations, the higher the income that the hostess receives.
It’s important to get along with customers by encouraging them to nominate you in the hall, and then connect with them so that they can follow through on that nomination.
